Jackson County Development Authority

The mission of the Jackson County Development Authority is to create a "World Class Community" and make Jackson County a leader in industrial growth in West Virginia.

The Jackson County Development Authority (JCDA) has been responsible for a steady economic growth pattern in recent years. Working closely with the community and state development authorities, JCDA can offer new and relocating businesses money-saving tax incentives and credits, customized financing and excellent training programs.

Jackson County Maritime and Industrial Centre
In 1995, the Industrial Centre received Inland District Port Status from the State Port Authority. This distinction resulted in a partnership with Valley, Inc., which has brought international business into Jackson County and a grant from the state of West Virginia. This Port brings to Jackson County the ability to become a major contender in international markets for river transport.

G.S. of West Virginia
G.S. of West Virginia was the county's first manufacturer for Automobile parts industry. The productivity of the local work force combined with a high quality of product output far exceeded the original expectations and has resulted in a larger employee work force.

Spec Building
The Jackson County Development Authority has received a letter of intent to purchase the Shell Spec Building which is located within the Industrial Centre. The start up of yet another manufacturer within the industrial complex will provide even more jobs for the citizens of Jackson County.
